Double Peonies

I was able to plant my peonies the last couple of days. They are under these green cloches because we have a squirrel problem. I gave one to my dad so I have about 9 double pink, 1 mystery from Canada Blooms and 1 I forgot what colour from last year (didn't bloom).

Mist Maiden Rhododendron

This is an evergreen rhodo. Leaves are dark green and flowers are in trusses of 5 to 10 pinkish white blooms from mid to late spring.

Cheerful Giant Azalea

This is a mid season bloomer of double yellow flowers in round shaped trusses. It has an upright plant habit with a mature growth or 5' by 4'.

Golden Bough Trees Delivery

My order of trees have arrived! There were 2 Japanese Maples, 1 Rose Rugosa, 2 Peegee Hyrdrangeas, 4 Star Magnolias, 1 Witch Tree Hazel.. They all arrived in one parcel. I am still missing my 2 free plants and a catalogue :)

Landmark Rhododendron

This is an early to mid season bloomer of rosy red flowers. It shows leathery green leaves that turn mahogany bronze in the colder months. 4' by 3'.

April Mist Rhododendron

This has a beautiful double white flower with mauve edge. It's an early bloomer with a tall dense habit.

Bubblegum Rhododendron

Introducing my budding new plant! It's described as a polyploidy version of Aglo with much larger flowers. 3' by 3'.

Bluenose Rhododendron

This was sold out in 5 minutes at the TRS. Good thing I was able to buy it the week prior at a private sale! It has bright blue flowers and blooms mid-season.

Wee Hydrangeas

Last year, I propagated some hydrangeas. I took some cuttings and dipped the ends with a rooting solution from Lee Valley (approx $7). In no time, they had developed roots and one actually even bloomed! We are talking 2 - 2 1/2 " cuttings. Unforutanately it was late in the season when it happened so I just stuck them on the ground and left them over winter. I didn't think much of them when recently I noticed that they were sprouting new growth! Yahoo! Will be doing that again this year but definitely earlier on!

Pansies Planter

I bought some pansies at Valleyview over the weekend. I specifically chose oranges and yellows so it would be complimentary to the cobalt blue. They look a little sparse right now but they would fill out in no time.

Toronto Rhodo Sale

I went to this awesome sale with my dad. The sale mentioned that it would start at 10 am sharp and boy did it ever! We arrived at 10:10 and most of the popular plants were already being carted into the trunks of cars!

Luckily, I was able to grab the last April Mist and Bubblegum. They were the tallest kind there. I just needed a bit more height to the sides of my garden. My dad was able to grab two as well but I don't know which ones. He just went for the most buds. Rest assured, will be going to get some cuttings soon enough! :)

The plants were $30 each or 4 for $100.

This is a vigorous, tough little shrub. It has a low dense plant habit. It blooms in early misdseason of pink and white flowers that turn white with age. 2 ft by 3 ft.

My Rhodos And Azaleas Have Finally Arrived!

I went to TBG to pick them up yesterday. I have never been there before and you know what, yesterday wouldn't be my last. It was a really nice calming place with lots of areas for my son to explore. The building itself was bright and airy. One can instantly feel relaxed and a part of the nature team. Anyway, will post the individual plants in a bit.

My Soil Has Arrived!

My Aurora Gold Mix has arrived from Picamix. That went smoothly! This was the first time I had my soil delivered and I think I may do it again sometime down the road. It helps a lot because buying those bags individually is always very tiring and we always run out at the end. Way to go Picamix!

Last Year's Wood Chips

Would anyone know what I do with these on my garden bed? They used to be red and thick and now they are uneven, faded and mixed with a lot of dead leaves. Do I just rake them away of leave them? Please advise. Thanks!

April Showers Bring May Flowers

For the past few days, it has been raining. I couldn't do much gardening but I am glad that my plants are waking up! I can see more green out there.

This weekend should be awesome as I am picking up my rhodos and azaleas from Toronto Botanical Garden.

Hanging Campanula

I transferred my Campanulas into our hanging planters. They really standout (probably because they bring the only colour in the backyard right now) and I bet would look really great when they start filling out!

4 New Trellises

We purchased 4 trellises for my new clematis and existing climbing plants. We would be needing more but they were expensive for $20 each at Vandermeer Nurseries in Ajax. They look great, though!
